Scuba can control access through multiple entry points and via doors or turnstiles fitted with any type of card reader: magnetic stripe, bar code, QR, MiFare or DesFire.
Access may be controlled by user category, time of day, gender, pre-payment, qualification, or by verifying a booking record. By having the ability to check a booking our customers can effectively enable auto-check-in for non-card holders, as well as their non-member users.
Entry can be controlled in several different ways, depending upon the type of session taking place. With a swipe controlled locking mechanism, all the checks will happen at the time of access. As the user swipes their card, Scuba will display their image to help confirm that the card has not been lost or stolen.
At the same time the system will check to make sure that the user can enter the gym using the following criteria:
Gold Card Holder paying by Direct Debit (DD) (at any time):
Scuba will check that the user has paid their DD and that they are qualified to use the gym.
Silver Card Holder paying by DD (off peak use):
Scuba will check that the user has paid their DD, that it is off peak time, and that they are qualified to use the gym.
Silver Card in peak time:
Scuba will check that the user is qualified and has paid for a peak session in the gym during the last ‘x’ minutes (you decide what ‘x’ is set to).
Normal member or Authorised user:
Scuba will check that the user is qualified and has paid for an off peak session in the gym during the last ‘x’ minutes (you decide what ‘x’ is set to).
- If the checks are positive, the door will open and the visit is recorded. If any of the checks are negative the user will be told to ‘Go to Reception’.
- If access is controlled by a turnstile at reception there is often a member’s fast track entry in place and Scuba will check that the user is a current member, will allow them access, and record the visit.
- If a customer wishes to use turnstiles to control pool access it might be necessary to consider using bar-codes throughout the operation. Member users can then swipe through the turnstile as normal using their bar-coded membership card, and a casual swimmer can be issued a ‘use once’ ticket at POS with a bar code on it to gain access.
- Finally, the software can also assess current bookings and check users in automatically.
